Easy Garlic and Olive Oil Pasta
This garlic and olive oil pasta is a classic and simple dish that is perfect for a quick and easy weeknight meal or a cosy dinner at home. The dish is made with al dente pasta, tossed with fragrant garlic, extra-virgin olive oil, and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for a subtle kick of heat. The addition of grated Parmesan cheese adds a rich and savoury flavour, while a garnish of fresh parsley gives the dish a pop of colour and freshness. This flavourful and satisfying pasta dish is perfect for any pasta lover who appreciates the beauty of simplicity in cooking.
Ingredients:
- 8 oz. pasta (spaghetti, linguine or any pasta of your choice)
- 3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the garlic is fragrant and lightly golden.
- Remove the skillet from heat and set it aside.
- Drain the cooked pasta and reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta water.
- Add the pasta to the skillet with the garlic and olive oil.
- Toss the pasta with the garlic and oil until it is well coated.
- If the pasta seems dry, add a little bit of the reserved pasta water to the skillet to create a sauce.
- Season the pasta with salt and pepper to taste.
- Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the pasta and toss to combine.
- Serve the pasta hot, garnished with chopped parsley (if using).
