One of the first things Dave made for me back in the day; his mom's famous Tex Mex dip.
There is something about Tex Mex that is so hard to stop eating once you start. So we decided to make it even better; enter Taco Enhancer!
It's creamy, cheesy, a little naughty - keeping us going in bite after bite.
Warning: This is not a health food.
This is the ultimate snack-y, let me indulge without judgement, share with some friends and talk about how January sucks kind of food.
You deserve it.
The Taco Enhancer is the ultimate choice to bring these tex mex flavours together. From Taco night to dips for a crowd; Taco has you covered.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 can refried beans
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup mayo
- 2-3 tbsp Taco Enhancer
- 5 cups Monteray Jack cheese, shredded
- Jar of salsa (homemade is awesome, but anything you have!)
- Green onion, diced (to make it look like we're trying to be healthy)
- Optional: Jalapeno, sliced
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat the oven to 350 F
- In a medium sauce pot over medium heat, add the refried beans, Worcestershire sauce, ⅓ cup of the cheese, and 1 tbsp Taco Enhancer. Stir occasionally until cheese melted and warmed through.
- In a separate bowl, mix the sour cream, mayo and 1 tbsp of Taco Enhancer. Taste and add more Taco Enhancer if you like it stronger. Set aside.
- Pick you pan: if you want a deep dish tex mex, use a 9x13 casserole dish. I have also used this in a bigger sheet pan with a high rim for a shallower dip. Both Delicious!
- Whichever pan you’re using; spread the refried bean evenly across the bottom.
- Next, layer the sour cream mix evenly across the top, followed by the salsa. You can use the whole jar of salsa that you have, or just half. Make it to your taste. (I like less salsa-y, Dave likes more)
- If using, sprinkle the fresh cut jalapenos evenly around the pan.
- Top with the cheese goodness! And sprinkle the green onion over top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until bubbling and delicious!
- Serve with corn chips, or in warm tortillas.
